Hi, I’m an Associate Professor of Geography at San Francisco State University. My research sits at the intersection of health geography, health humanities, and the social determinants of health. I am particularly interested in the ways in which the arts and the humanities convey diverse geographic aspects of health and health care, including embodiment, place, and space. StoryBridge is a labor of love, that emerged in the wake of a traumatic experience that left me struggling to articulate my experience with others. From my research on health equity, I know that many people feel similarly and wish to share their experiences. While I have found creating comics and writing poetry about my experience to be therapeutic, many people benefit from sharing their stories through photographs, poetry, dance, short stories, and other forms of expression. I hope StoryBridge will be a welcome place for people to share their experiences and to feel that their voice is heard.
